This year the International Academy for Leadership (IAF) offered participants of the 38th annual study session of the International Institute of Human Rights (IIHR) based in Strasbourg an opportunity to participate in an excursion to the memorial site of the former concentration camp of Natzweiler in Struthof, Alsace.

Germany is opting for the amendment of EU’s current constitutional treaty. The event delved into the future of the European Union, the strategy behind the German presidency, and the increasing challenges in foreign and security policy.

The Dialogue Programme Brussels of Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit welcomed liberal-minded decision makers to its first “Liberal Breakfast” following the traditional summer break. The “Liberal Breakfast” is a discussion forum which focuses on policy issues of liberal interest. It is organised by the Dialogue Programme Brussels in cooperation with the European Liberal Democrat Party (ELDR) and the Auslandsgruppe Europa of FDP (AGE).

Friar Louis Bothe, president of the Franciscan Commission for Justice, Peace, and Creation Integrity in the Holy Land, held a speech within the framework of the series called “Thought Bites at Lunchtime” conducted by the FNF at the Theodor Heuss Hall of the Brussels Dialogue Program. Speaking with an extremely personal touch, Louis Bohte told about his impressions as a Franciscan friar residing in the conflict area of the Near East region, and who -along with the inhabitants- experiences directly the conflict and its multiple expressions and repercussions each day.

In cooperation with the American Jewish Committee (AJC), the Transatlantic Dialogue Program and the Regional Office for Central, South-Eastern and Eastern Europe of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation with headquarters in Sofia, the program named “Promoting Tolerance in Central and Eastern Europe” was conducted for the 15th time.
Municipal politicians from Serbia, Croatia, Ukraine, Romania, and Moldavia visiting Germany
Their trip led them to Bonn, Aachen, and Plauen. Eight municipal politicians took part in a visit program about liberal municipal policy in Germany. Among them, mayors from Ukraine and Moldavia, as well as town councilors and municipal trustees from Serbia, Croatia, and Romania were present.
